background info: “makoharu” is the shipping of haruka nanase x makoto tachibana, from free!! free! has been my anime obsession for the past year… lol. the anime came out this past summer and has 12 episodes, but a second season is on its way! <3333 the official place to watch english subbed free! is crunchyroll.

this is makoto tachibana from free!. this was not on my to-do list. (because, it was supposed to be a quick picture! but i got carried away...) there is something on my to-do list that says "makoto pic", but this is not it. this is a trade with Chapter00, btw.

in november, (for makoto's birthday!!) i drew a pic of him from the back view. (well it was really 1/4 view) but that pic did not turn out how i wanted, so i never uploaded it. but i thought about it and eventually decided that i would redo it sometime, and i put it on my to-do list. then later i agreed to this trade and she wanted me to draw makoto... i could have redone that bday pic, but but since "startle," i wanted to do another pic of makoto from the front view (well, 3/4) because i wanted to practice drawing a male body from that view. so i drew that.

sidenote: you might have noticed on my to-do list that i am planning... a "part 2" to startle!!!!! ^___^ i already announced that, see these makoharuland posts here:

well this pic was tons of fun to do! not just because of the subject matter, but because of the coloring!~~ the coloring was somewhat experimental... so it was largely uncontrolled. i like how it turned out!! ^___^ that said, because of the interesting way i colored, i had a lot of trouble trying to figure out my post-scan digital color editing that i always do. it's always hard to adjust enough to correct scanned colors w/o overly adjusting and making your pic look over-contrasted or over-saturated, but this one was especially difficult! i just need to practice more with this style of coloring, so that i can control it more and really understand what i want: what colors i want to put where, and why.
